Elizabeth Arden (December 31, 1881 – October 18, 1966), also known as Elizabeth N. Graham, was a Canadian-American businesswoman who founded what is now Elizabeth Arden, Inc., and built a cosmetics empire in the United States. Florence Nightingale Graham was born in 1881 on her family's farm in Woodbridge, Ontario, to Willie Graham and Susan Tadd Graham. Her mother was born in Liverpool, England and immigrated to Toronto in about 1863, and her parents married in Toronto in 1872.

They had five children: Christine (1873), Lilian (1875), William Jr. (1878), Florence Nightingale (1881), and Jessie Gladys (1884). Her mother died of tuberculosis in 1885. After dropping out of nursing school in Toronto, she joined her brother in New York City, working briefly as a bookkeeper for the E. R.
