Chronology: 1961-06-10 – Present

Formative Years and Early Band Affiliations

Kim Deal began her musical journey by joining the influential alternative rock band the Pixies in January 1986, adopting the stage name Mrs. John Murphy for early recordings. Following a hiatus for the Pixies, she co-founded the acclaimed band the Breeders with Tanya Donelly and others. The band's initial success with the album *Pod* set the stage for her subsequent career pivots.

The Peak of The Breeders and Creative Detours

The Breeders achieved significant commercial success with *Last Splash* in 1993, featuring the hit single "Cannonball." After a hiatus in 1994, Deal explored different sounds, forming the short-lived band the Amps and recording the album *Pacer* in 1995. Despite personal struggles, she remained central to the evolution of her musical identity.

Reunions, Solo Focus, and Enduring Legacy

Deal maintained deep connections to her past, reuniting with the Pixies in 2004 and later focusing on the Breeders for major anniversaries. Her commitment to her craft culminated in the 2018 release of *All Nerve*, which reunited key members, and her 2024 debut solo album, *Nobody Loves You More*, solidifying her status as a foundational figure in alternative rock.
