Enrique Tarrio's early life included service as an informant to both federal and local law enforcement between 2012 and 2014. He was also active in political organizing, serving as the Florida state director for the grassroots organization Latinos for Trump.
Leadership in Far-Right Movements
Tarrio gained notoriety through his association with the Proud Boys, a neo-fascist organization. He chaired the group from 2018 to 2021, and was a candidate in the Republican primary election for Florida's 27th congressional district in 2020.
Legal Convictions and Political Conclusion
His involvement culminated in his conviction for seditious conspiracy related to the 2021 United States Capitol attack. Following a 22-year sentence in September 2023, he was subsequently pardoned by U.S. president Donald Trump upon the latter's return to office in January 2025.
