Antonio Inoki began his journey in professional wrestling after spending his adolescence in Brazil. His early career saw him train under the tutelage of Rikidōzan for the Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance (JWA) in the 1960s. A pivotal change occurred in 1963 when he adopted the moniker Antonio Inoki, paying homage to Antonino Rocca, which propelled him to stardom in Japanese wrestling.

Inoki's influence expanded dramatically as he founded New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) in 1972, establishing himself as a key figure in the industry.
